Counteracting Systemic Bias in the Lab, Field, and Classroom

چکیده
Grappling with systemic discrimination and bias in geosciences can be overwhelming to the point that one may feel powerless fix them. Despite sweeping nature of this challenge, faculty, principal investigators, other scientists leadership roles have unparalleled power mitigate harm environments they oversee. Here, we identify ways these immediately address three common spaces—the lab, field, classroom. We highlight key actions taken improve quality life marginalized students trainees quickly, while important but comparatively slow institutional changes proceed.
