COVID-19 Challenges: Can Industry 4.0 Technologies Help with Business Continuity?

The COVID-19 pandemic has halted economic activities and made business dynamics much more challenging by introducing several additional operational, structural, managerial constraints. problem affected global supply chains in many ways, questioned their long-term continuity. On the other hand, Industry 4.0 is an emerging phenomenon. However, there a need to investigate how technologies may play potential role sustaining operations ease unprecedented causalities. current research aims potentiality of solve challenges for long term sustainability. From exploratory literature analysis coupled with Delphi method, keeping view situation pandemic, ten challenge groups that have were identified. A questionnaire was developed aim accumulating industrial academic experts evaluate degree influence interrelationship among identified challenges. Decision Making, Trial Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) approach deployed further analyze categorization these into causes effects, prioritizing them better decision making. prioritized from list governmental policies support, followed real access customers lack infrastructure. Additionally, evaluated through expert opinion systems strategic-level chain potentially gauge potency COVID-19-induced outcomes this (which used integrated DEMATEL approach) are expected support businesses formulating strategies continuity combating future disruptions caused COVID-19-like pandemics.
