Cross-layer static resource provisioning for dynamic traffic in flexible grid optical networks

Flexible grid networks need rigorous resource planning to avoid network over-dimensioning and over-provisioning. The must provision the hardware spectrum resources statically, even for dynamic random bandwidth demands, due infrastructure of flexible networks, limitations, reconfiguration speed control plane. We propose a online–offline probabilistic (FOOP) algorithm static assignment demands. FOOP considers nature demands balances plane pressures with efficiency. uses Gaussian noise (PSGN) model estimate physical-layer impairment (PLI) traffic. Compared benchmark widely applied PLI estimation model, proposed using PSGN saves up 49% resources.
