چکیده
ABSTRACT In this paper, we present and validate the galaxy sample used for analysis of baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) signal in Dark Energy Survey (DES) Y3 data. The definition is based on a colour redshift-dependent magnitude cut optimized to select galaxies at redshifts higher than 0.5, while ensuring high-quality determination. covers ${\sim }\, 4100$ deg2to depth i = 22.3 (AB) 10?. It contains 7031 993 redshift range from $z$ 0.6 1.1, with mean effective 0.835. Redshifts are estimated machine learning algorithm dnf, validated using VIPERS PDR2 sample. We find bias $z_{\mathrm{bias}} {\sim 0.01$ uncertainty, units 1 + $z$, $\sigma _{68} 0.03$. evaluate population sample, showing it mostly built upon Elliptical Sbc types. Furthermore, low level stellar contamination $\lesssim 4{{\ \rm per\ cent}}$. method mitigate effect spurious clustering coming observing conditions other large-scale systematics. apply BAO calculate weights that get robust estimate signal. This paper one series dedicated DES Y3. companion papers, mock catalogues calibrate angular diameter distance constraints obtained through fitting scale.

The WiggleZ Galaxy Survey shows that dark energy is real
The WiggleZ Dark Energy Survey on the Anglo-Australian Telescope has measured redshifts for 220,000 emission line galaxies. The galaxies sample a volume of 1 cubic Gpc and a redshift range of 0.2 < z < 1. This is the first survey to measure the cosmology of the universe over such a wide range of epochs. Our analysis provides strong evidence that dark energy is real. In our first major results w...
متن کاملCan a galaxy redshift survey measure dark energy clustering?
A wide-field galaxy redshift survey allows one to probe galaxy clustering at largest spatial scales, which carries invaluable information on horizon-scale physics complementarily to the cosmic microwave background (CMB). Assuming the planned survey consisting of z ∼ 1 and z ∼ 3 surveys with areas of 2000 and 300 deg, respectively, we study the prospects for probing dark energy clustering from t...
متن کاملGalaxy Clustering and Dark Energy
We study the evolution of galaxy clustering in various cosmological models with quintessence. We investigate how the analytical predictions vary with change of dark energy equation of state wX . Comparing these predictions against available data we test the possibility of constraining the equation of state with future galaxy surveys and to what extent the problems of galaxy bias can be modelled...
متن کاملCross-correlation of WMAP 3rd year data and the SDSS DR4 galaxy survey: new evidence for Dark Energy
We cross-correlate the third-year WMAP data with galaxy samples extracted from the SDSS DR4 (SDSS4) covering 13% of the sky, increasing by a factor of 3.7 the volume sampled in previous analyses. The new measurements confirm a positive crosscorrelation with higher significance (total signal-to-noise of about 4.7). The correlation as a function of angular scale is well fitted by the integrated S...
متن کاملThe Dark Energy Survey
The Dark Energy Survey is proposing to constrain dark energy with four complementary probes: galaxy cluster counts, weak lensing, galaxy clustering and Type Ia Supernovae. In order to achieve this a new 3 deg CCD camera will be mounted on the Blanco 4-m telescope at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO). The camera will be sensitive up to 24 magnitude in the g,r,i and z bands. The ...
