چکیده

The Cosmics Leaving OUtdoor Droplets (CLOUD) experiment at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) is investigating nucleation and growth of aerosol particles under atmospheric conditions their activation into cloud droplets. comprises an ultraclean 26 m 3 chamber its associated systems (the CLOUD facility) together with a suite around 50 advanced instruments attached to via sampling probes analyze contents. set changes each experimental campaign according scientific goals. central function DAQ (data acquisition) system combine data from these autonomous inhomogeneous single, integrated database. needs be highly adaptable allow fast setup over single installation week start when are brought CERN installed chamber. Each requires high flexibility response in instrument configuration or parameters. experiments require online monitoring physical chemical measurements delays only few seconds. In addition, raw data, databases, processed must archived provided international collaboration both real-time later analyses. We will describe various components computing infrastructure, reasons chosen solutions.

Results from the CERN pilot CLOUD experiment

During a 4-week run in October–November 2006, a pilot experiment was performed at the CERN Proton Synchrotron in preparation for the Cosmics Leaving OUtdoor Droplets (CLOUD) experiment, whose aim is to study the possible influence of cosmic rays on clouds. The purpose of the pilot experiment was firstly to carry out exploratory measurements of the effect of ionising particle radiation on aeroso...

πνν̄ experiment at CERN

The P326 proposal for an experiment to measure the branching ratio of the very rare kaon decay K + → π + ν ¯ ν at the CERN SPS is described. The proposed experiment aims to collect about 80 K + → π + ν ¯ ν events with a 10% of background in two years of data taking. The status of the project, the R&D and the future perspectives for the experiment are discussed.

Towards automation of data quality system for CERN CMS experiment

Daily operation of a large-scale experiment is a challenging task, particularly from perspectives of routine monitoring of quality for data being taken. We describe an approach that uses Machine Learning for the automated system to monitor data quality, which is based on partial use of data qualified manually by detector experts. The system automatically classifies marginal cases: both of good ...

The CMS experiment at the CERN LHC

The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector is described. The detector operates at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. It was conceived to study proton-proton (and leadlead) collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 14 TeV (5.5 TeV nucleon-nucleon) and at luminosities up to 1034 cm−2s−1 (1027 cm−2s−1). At the core of the CMS detector sits a high-magneticfield and large-bore superconducting sol...

Monitoring tools of COMPASS experiment at CERN

This paper briefly introduces the data acquisition system of the COMPASS experiment and is mainly focused on the part that is responsible for the monitoring of the nodes in the whole newly developed data acquisition system of this experiment. The COMPASS is a high energy particle experiment with a fixed target located at the SPS of the CERN laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland. The hardware of the...
