چکیده
Providing real-time crowding information in urban railways would enable informed travel decisions and encourage cooperative behavior of passengers, as well improve operating efficiency safety. However, the problem prediction is not trivial because unavailability ground-truth data, particularly for direct impact on passengers (e.g., denied boarding platforms). This paper proposes a data-driven method railway systems using automated fare collection (AFC) vehicle location (AVL) data. It predicts probability distribution or its derived metrics function explanatory variables, including demand, operations, incident-related factors. The validated through case study covering 18 months Hong Kong Mass Transit Railways. results highlight model’s accurate robust performance predicting platforms purely AFC AVL data an average 6%–7% error) under both recurrent non-recurrent situations, which transfer demand-related factors contribute most to prediction. model outputs can support proactive operations control management, provision customer without relying expensive time-consuming efforts. Customer information, example, include number trains wait before waiting time platform.

Real-time traffic control in railway systems
Despite the constantly increasing demand of passengers and goods transport in Europe, the share of railway traffic is decreasing. One major reason appears to be congestion, which in turn results in frequent delays and in a general unreliability of the system. This fact has triggered the study of efficient ways to manage railway traffic, both off-line and real-time, by means of optimization and ...
متن کاملReal-time Travel Time Prediction on Urban Arterial Network
Travel time is one of the most desired operational variables serving as a key measure of effectiveness for evaluating the system performance of freeways and urban arterials. With accurate travel time information, decision makers, road users, and traffic engineers can make informed decisions. However, retrieving network-level travel time information has several challenges, such as traffic data c...

The problem of control and management of railway transportation is a complex task with major outcomes in a modern society. Trains are suitable for transporting peoples and goods with a good trade-off between cost and rapidity. A railway system consists of a network of tracks, list of stations, safety devices (signals, sensors, etc) and a set of trains. Trains moves from one station to other alo...
