Multifragmentation, Clustering, and Coalescence in Nuclear Collisions
Nuclear collisions at intermediate, relativistic, and ultra-relativistic energies offer unique opportunities to study in detail manifold fragmentation and clustering phenomena in dense nuclear matter. At intermediate energies, the well known processes of nuclear multifragmentation – the disintegration of bulk nuclear matter in clusters of a wide range of sizes and masses – allow the study of th...

String Clustering and J/ψ Suppression in Nuclear Collisions
We study the clustering of colour strings in the transverse plane of nucleus-nucleus collisions and argue that deconfinement sets in when the string density within a cluster reaches a critical value. We show that this implies a minimal cluster size at the onset of deconfinement, which in turn results in discontinuous behaviour for J/ψ suppression. Statistical quantum chromodynamics predicts tha...
متن کاملCorrelations at RHIC and the Clustering of Color Sources
We present our results on transverse momentum fluctuations and multiplicity fluctuations in the framework of the clustering of color sources. In this approach, elementary color sources stringsoverlap forming clusters, so the number of effective sources is modified. These clusters decay into particles with mean transverse momentum that depends on the number of elementary sources that conform eac...
متن کاملParticle production azimuthal asymmetries in a clustering of color sources
The collective interactions of many partons in the first stage of the collisions is the usual accepted explanation of the sizable elliptical flow. The clustering of color sources provides a natural framework of partonic interactions. In this scheme, we show a reasonable agreement with RHIC data in both the dependence of v 2 on transverse momentum and in the shape of the nuclear modified factor ...
