Debris flow: Simulating the mitigation properties of vegetation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Natural vegetation impacted by debris flows can act as an energy dissipator. This braking effect is similar to the one exerted baffle arrays. However, this effect, and its potential for hazard mitigation, has been studied only marginally. In work, we apply a depth-averaged model reproduce scaled laboratory experiments of flow-forest interaction.

flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...

Space debris poses an increasingly serious threat to satellites and spacecraft. Our project will aim to mitigate this problem using an array of kilowatt-class lasers, powered by photovoltaics. An experiment was implemented to study this using a directed energy system to completely vaporize or propel space debris out of Earth’s orbit. Common materials found in space debris were tested using a 60...

Gaseous discharge light sources are leading candidates for generating 13.5 nm wavelengths needed for next-generation optical lithography. Electrode debris reaching the first collector optic is a serious concern for device lifetime and cost of ownership. This paper describes the experimental setup and initial data obtained for testing secondary-plasmabased debris mitigation for EUV gas discharge...
