Decabromodiphenyl Ether versus Decabromodiphenyl Ethane: Source, Fate, and Influencing Factors in a Coastal Sea Nearing Source Region

چکیده
Both decabromodiphenyl ether (BDE 209) and ethane (DBDPE) are still produced in large quantities China, especially the Shandong Province closed to Bohai Sea (BS). This study conducted a comprehensive investigation of distribution budget brominated flame retardants (BFRs) BS. BDE 209 was predominant BFR most investigated rivers flowing into BS, although DBDPE exceeded certain as result replacement with North China. The spatial distributions BFRs were controlled by proximity manufacturing base extent urbanization. BFRs’ BS influenced combination land-based pollution sources, environmental parameters (e.g., suspended particulate matter, organic carbon, black carbon), hydrodynamic conditions. variation trend 209/DBDPE ratios various media provided useful information. Vertically, ratio decreased from seawater surface layer sediment, indicating their differential transport A multi-box mass balance model analysis showed that degradation primary sink (?68%) sediment (?72%)

Birnessite mediated debromination of decabromodiphenyl ether.
Decabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-209) is a major component of a commercial flame retardant formulation; however, there is limited information on the fate of BDE-209 in the environment, including metal oxide mediated degradation. Laboratory experiments were conducted to investigate the birnessite (delta-MnO(2))-promoted debromination of BDE-209 in tetrahydrofuran (THF)-water systems as well as catec...

The photolytic degradation of decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE), an alternative flame retardant to decabromodiphenyl ether, was investigated in a variety of matrixes (n-hexane, tetrahydrofuran, methanol/water, humic acid/water, and silica gel) by irradiation under ultraviolet light and in n-hexane under natural light. Photolytic degradation of DBDPE occurs in all the matrixes investigated within...

متن کاملDecabromodiphenyl ether in the rat: absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion.
Among the group of polybrominated diphenyl ethers used as flame-retardants, the fully brominated diphenyl ether, decabromodiphenyl ether (decaBDE), is the most commonly used. Despite the large usage of decaBDE, neither the metabolic pathways nor the absorption have been addressed, and there are very few studies on its toxicology. In this work, it is shown that after a single oral dose of 14C-la...
متن کاملAn investigation of the phototoxicity of decabromodiphenyl ether and triclosan
Decabromodiphenylether (deca-BDE) and triclosan (2,4,4'-trichloro-2'hydroxydiphenylether) are used in consumer products as flame retardant and bactericide, respectively. Dermal contact is a major human exposure pathway. Deca-BDE and triclosan are known to be photolytically degraded to compounds like lower-BDEs and dioxins. My hypothesis is that photolysis of deca-BDE and triclosan generates fre...
