چکیده

While modern software companies strive to increase team autonomy enable them successfully operate the piece of they develop and deploy, efficient ways orchestrate work multiple autonomous teams working in parallel are still poorly understood. In this paper, we report how is maintained at Spotify scale, based on retrospectives, interviews with managers archival analysis corporate databases procedures. particular, describe managerial authority decentralized through various workgroups collective authority, what compromises made ensure alignment which team-related factors can further hinder autonomy. Our findings show that scaled does not mean anarchy, or unlimited permissiveness. Instead, squads expected take responsibility for their coordinate, communicate align actions others, comply a few enabling constraints. Further, many decisions independently without management control due efforts bypass formal boundary structures. Mechanisms strategies self-organization related effective sharing codebase, achieving alignment, networking knowledge sharing, described guide other scale

Shared decision-making and patient autonomy.

In patient-centred care, shared decision-making is advocated as the preferred form of medical decision-making. Shared decision-making is supported with reference to patient autonomy without abandoning the patient or giving up the possibility of influencing how the patient is benefited. It is, however, not transparent how shared decision-making is related to autonomy and, in effect, what support...

Ethics in decision making and patient autonomy.

Kahana, the diagnosis was late, and we don’t know whether timely investigations (CT scan, fiberoptic bronchoscopy, etc) at the first onset of thoracic symptoms might have changed the course. Cover Page Autonomy as Decision-Making Control

Autonomy is an often cited but rarely agreed upon agent characteristic. Although no definition of agent autonomy is universally accepted, exploring the concept of autonomy is important because autonomy influences and is influenced by the degree of trust that agent designers and users place in their agents, the effectiveness of agent-based problem solving, and the organizational structure of age...

Approaches to asynchronous decentralized decision making

Motivated by the ideas of asynchronous relaxation algorithms this paper investigates optimal decision-making problems that exhibit decentralized characteristics. Such problems consist of a collection of interacting sub-systems, each one described by local properties and dynamics, joined together by the need to accomplish a common task which achieves overall optimal performance. Special properti...
