Deciphering Star Cluster Evolution by Shape Morphology

چکیده
We analyze the morphological evolution of open clusters and provide shape parameters for 265 clusters. The results show that overall sample becomes more elliptical as they grow older, while their core remains circular or slightly trend to circularize. There is a negative correlation ellipticities with number members A significant between masses also detected log(age/year) $\geq$ 8, suggesting shapes are possibly influenced by masses, in addition external forces surrounding environment. For most young clusters, radial stratification degree short axis direction greater than long, implying two directions within cluster may be unevenly affected an internal evolutionary process. Older exhibit lower tangential direction, which means those continue survive long time at low level stratification. Our analysis shows susceptible influence Galactic tides toward center shear embedded differential rotation. By analyzing distribution ages star we suggest NGC 6791 originate from superclusters.

Star cluster ecology II. Binary evolution with single-star encounters
Three-body effects greatly complicate stellar evolution. We model the effects of encounters of binaries with single stars, based on parameters chosen from conditions prevalent in the cores of globular clusters. For our three-body encounters, we start with a population of primordial binaries, and choose incoming stars from the evolving single star populations of paper I. In addition, we study th...
متن کاملStar Cluster Evolution with Primordial Binaries
Observations and theoretical work suggest that globular clusters may be born with initially very large binary fractions. We present first results from our newly modified Monte-Carlo cluster evolution code, which treats binary interactions exactly via direct N -body integration. It is shown that binary scattering interactions generate significantly less energy than predicted by the recipes that ...
متن کاملStar Cluster Simulations Including Stellar Evolution
The past few years have seen dramatic improvements in the scope and realism of star cluster simulations. Accurate treatments of stellar evolution, coupled with robust descriptions of all phases of binary evolution, have been incorporated self-consistently into several dynamical codes, allowing for the first time detailed study of the interplay between stellar dynamics and stellar physics. The c...
متن کاملThe Missing Link in Star Cluster Evolution
The currently most popular models for the dynamical evolution of star clusters predict that the power-law Cluster Luminosity Functions (CLFs) of young star cluster systems will be transformed rapidly into the universal Gaussian CLFs of old Milky Way-type “globular” cluster systems. Here, we provide the first evidence for a turn-over in the intermediate-age, approximately 1 Gyr-old CLF in the ce...
متن کاملDeciphering cluster representations
There are several recent studies that propose search output clustering as an alternative representation method to ranked output. Users are provided with cluster representations instead of lists of titles and invited to make decisions on groups of documents. This paper discusses the diculties involved in representing clusters for usersÕ evaluation in a concise but easily interpretable form. The...
