Decision-making based on International Society of Urological Pathology Gleason-scores obtained from transrectal needle biopsy of the Prostate: How Accurate Could We Be ?

Objective: The decision about the treatment of localized prostate cancer (PC) depends mainly on histopathological results transrectal needle biopsy. agreement between biopsies and radical prostatectomy specimens were reported to be varying. In this study, we aimed investigate one institution’s homogenous repertory. A fair could revealed, probable strategies improve rate are discussed.
 
 Materials Methods: 230 eligible patients who underwent (RP) ultrasound guided biopsy (TRUS-Bx) in our instutition included study. Demographic characteristics, PSA levels (ng/ml) prior TRUS-Bx, International Society Urological Pathology (ISUP) Gleason group grades obtained from TRUS-Bx RP recorded evaluated for concordance.
 Results:137 250 pathology ISUP compatible with (%59,6). 20 125 (%16) grade 2 or 3 4 5 initial found downgraded 42 147 (29%), have 1 upgraded final pathology.
 Conclusion: diagnosis PC, is an insufficient method show correct specimen pathology.
