Deep structure of the Demerara Plateau: From a volcanic margin to a Transform Marginal Plateau

چکیده

The Demerara Plateau (offshore Suriname and French Guiana) is located at the junction of Jurassic Central Atlantic Cretaceous Equatorial Oceans. study its crustal structure fundamental to understanding tectonic history, relationship with adjacent oceanic domains enlightening formation Transform Marginal Plateaus (TMPs). This presents two wide-angle seismic velocity models from MARGATS cruise experiment, composite reflection lines. plateau itself characterized by a 30 km thick crust, subdivided into three layers, including high lower crust (HVLC). velocities gradients do not fit values typical continental but could volcanic margin or Large Igneous Province (LIP) type crusts. We propose that the, possibly continental, intruded magmatic material upper layer likely composed extrusive rocks same origin, forming seaward dipping reflector sequences tilted west. SDR complex was emplaced during hotspot related rifting preceding opening North present-day western plateau. internal limit corresponds future eastern margin. would therefore be an inherited boarding Atlantic. reworked complex, creating northern transform divergent along also highlights major contribution thermal anomalies such as hotspots superposed phases in history TMPs, which share great number characteristics Demerara.

the aesthetic dimension of howard barkers art: a frankfurtian approach to scenes from an execution and no end of blame

From plateau to pseudo-plateau bursting: making the transition.

Bursting electrical activity is ubiquitous in excitable cells such as neurons and many endocrine cells. The technique of fast/slow analysis, which takes advantage of time scale differences, is typically used to analyze the dynamics of bursting in mathematical models. Two classes of bursting oscillations that have been identified with this technique, plateau and pseudo-plateau bursting, are ofte...

Gravity Observations of the Aristarchus Plateau on the Moon: Implications for the Volcanic and Impact Histories of the Plateau

Introduction The Aristarchus Plateau (Figure 1) is a distinctive, geologically complex volcanic highland in northern Oceanus Procellarum. It is roughly diamond shaped, 170 by 220 km across, and up to 2 km higher than the surrounding mare [1, 2]. The roughly linear edges of the plateau suggest that it is fault bounded. The plateau edges are essentially radial and concentric to the center of the ...
