Description of Biofilm Density on Glass Ionomer Cement Modified by 5% Hydroxyapatite from the Synthesis of Chicken Eggshells

Background: Oral microbiome biofilms can appear on all surfaces of the oral cavity as well restorative materials such Glass Ionomer Cement (GIC). GIC is considered superior because it has ability to produce fluoride, which a cariostatic effect, but fluoride produced inadequate inhibit growth biofilms, so modifications were made by adding hydroxyapatite from eggshell. Purpose: To evaluate levels contained in chicken eggshells and assess description biofilm density surface hydroxyapatite-modified eggshell synthesis. Methods: The research group was divided into control group, namely without addition hydroxyapatite, treatment with 5% hydroxyapatite. obtained voluntary dental plaque swab cultured specimen at time span 24 hours, 48 72 hours. Biofilm examined using Scanning Electron Microscopy analyzed ImageJ software. Results: average respectively, 2,640.02 p/μm, 1,130.08 16,797.33 p/μm. Meanwhile, 1,921.52 1.029 5,764.50 p/m. Conclusion: Statistical analysis performed showed that affected value formed, two groups had different effects reducing descriptively statistically did not have significant difference.
