Designing Lightweight Stadium Roofing Structures Based on Advanced Analysis Methods

The current structural engineering practical standards are unable to offer an universal design standard for long-spanning lightweight stadium roofing structures. As such, the procedure of a particular roof is not replicable another. This research aims present novel structures considering Lakhwiya Optus Stadium and CommBank as experimental cases. Using finite element analysis (FEA) software Strand7, cases will be modelled analysed. Varying load combinations such ultimate strength (ULS) serviceability limit states (SLS) based on Australian Standard AS1170.0:2002 calculated subsequently applied. Linear static then undertaken where critical members identified within model. Based this, preliminary member sizing feasibility checks conducted in order ensure stability compliance Steel Structure code AS4100:2020. A linear buckling also selected sizes from initial stage determine loads. Advanced including non-linear computation comprehensively managed. Some crucial parameters maximum displacement, maximum/minimum principal stresses, loads, well factors examined. main novelty this study clear road map systems subjected combination different types loading.
