چکیده
This paper concerns a new optimization problem arising in the management of multi-object spectrometer with configurable slit unit. The field view spectrograph is divided into contiguous and parallel spatial bands, each one associated two opposite sliding metal bars that can be positioned to observe astronomical object. Thus several objects analyzed simultaneously within configuration called mask. Due high demand from astronomers, pointing spectrograph’s sky, rotating it, selecting conform mask crucial for efficient use spectrometer. describes this problem, presents Mixed Integer Linear Programming formulation case where rotation angle fixed, non-convex unfixed, heuristic approach general discusses computational results on real-world randomly-generated instances.

The optical design for an Infrared Multiple Object Spectrometer (IRMOS) intended for Astronomical research is presented. To accomplish spectroscopy of multiple objects simultaneous, IRMOS utilizes a Micro-Mirror array (MMA) as an electronically controlled slit device. This approach makes object selection simple and offers great versatility for performing spectral analysis on many objects within...
متن کاملScattered Light in a DMD based Multi-Object Spectrometer
The DMD (Digital Micromirror Device) has an important future in both ground and space based multi-object spectrometers. A series of laboratory measurements have been performed to determine the scattered light properties of a DMD. The DMD under test had a 17 m pitch and 1 m gap between adjacent mirrors. Prior characterization of this device has focused on its use in DLP (TI Digital Light Process...
متن کاملAsymptotically Optimal Multi-Object Auctions
A seller who wishes to sell a set of (distinct or similar) items can attempt to do it by a variety of auction mechanisms, such as combinatorial auctions, sequential auctions or parallel auctions. We provide a proof for the intuitive result that if the potential buyers are risk averse, then for every mechanism, the expected revenue of the seller in equilibrium is bounded above by the expected ma...

A novel multi-object spectrometer (MOS) is being explored for use as an adaptive performance-driven sensor that tracks moving targets. Developed originally for astronomical applications, the instrument utilizes an array of micromirrors to reflect light to a panchromatic imaging array. When an object of interest is detected the individual micromirrors imaging the object are tilted to reflect the...
