Designing Public Soundscapes through Social Architecture and Soundscape Approaches: Reflective Review of Architectural Design Studio

This paper provides a reflective review of an architectural design studio that utilized both social architecture and soundscape approaches to create human-centered context-based designs for urban public spaces. During field research, students in the analyzed four different spaces Marina Central BID, Singapore, employing combination (behavioral trace activity mapping) (acoustic measurement soundwalk) methods. Through this process, identified issues related soundscapes developed strategies improve quality The were categorized into three groups: introduction desirable sounds, reinforcement desired reduction unwanted sounds. shows integration education enables better comprehend social–behavioral aspects environment more comprehensive enjoyable soundscapes.
