Determinants of Under-Five Mortality in Tach- Armachiho District, North Gondar, Ethiopia

Background: Under-five mortality rate, often known by its acronym U5MR, indicates the probability of dying between birth and five years age, expressed per 1,000 live births. Globally, 16,000 children under-five still die every day. Especially in Sub-Saharan Africa 1 child 12, before his or her fifth birthday. This study aims to identify determinants among women bearing age group Tach-Armachiho district using count regression models. Methods: For achieving objective, a two-stage random sampling technique (simple systematic techniques first second stages respectively) was used select respondents. The sample survey conducted considered total 3815 households aged 15 49 out which information collected from 446 selected through interviewer administrated questionnaire. Results: descriptive statistics result showed that 16.6% mothers have faced problem at least one death. In this study, Poisson regression, negative binomial, zero-inflated binomial models were applied for data analysis. Each these compared different statistical tests. So that, poisson model found be best fit data. Results education husband, source water, mother occupation, kebele mother, prenatal care, place delivery, residence, wealth house hold, average interval breast feeding statistically significant mortality.
