Determining Chemotherapy Agents in Saliva through Spectrometry and Chromatography Methods Correlated with Periodontal Status in Oncology Patients

Background: The aim of this study is to quantify chemotherapy agents in the saliva oncology patients undergoing intravenous treatment, and evaluate oral periodontal clinical modifications possible correlations between them. Materials Methods: was conducted on 29 treatment with cisplatin, oxaliplatin or gemcitabine. Three total samples were gathered from each patient three key points regarding chemotherapy. then analyzed through methods mass spectrometry liquid chromatography. Results: Cisplatin gemcitabine only found at 30 min 2 h after administration, however determined all samples. Clinically, most accentuated attachment loss CPITN scores observed mandibular teeth, whereas highest values for Sillness Loe gingival index bleeding lateral maxillary areas. We no statistically significant correlation parameters concentration saliva. Conclusion: A fraction systemically administered can also be have potential exacerbate infections cause local systemic complications throughout treatment.
