Development and effects of a nursing information literacy competency education program for undergraduate nursing students

Purpose: This study was conducted to develop and test the effects of a nursing information literacy competency education program for undergraduate students.Methods: A non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design used. The subjects consisted 42 sophomore students who had completed fundamental course (experimental group: n=21, n=21). 8 steps in sessions, taught over 4 weeks, which 20 hours total. Data were collected between January 23 March 14, 2019 analyzed using Chi-square test, Fisher's exact t-test, paired repeated measure ANOVA with SPSS/WIN 23.0.Results: Significant differences shown experimental groups regarding (F=91.74, <i>p</i><.001), problem-solving ability (F=52.43, self-directed learning (F=36.61, evidence-based practice (F=59.66, <i>p</i><.001).Conclusion: effective improving competency, ability, students. Hence, we recommend will be included as an independent curriculum promote needed proficiency competency.
