Development of a System for Cyclic Shear Tests on Full-Scale Walls

The SHS-Multirisk Project proposes a residence model that is simultaneously resistant to earthquakes and hurricanes within specific range of magnitude be defined in the project. It uses simple, low-cost, environmentally friendly construction technologies compared with traditional alternatives or more technological, but less accessible ones. To reach objectives, an experimental campaign carry on cyclic shear tests involved set 15 reinforced soil-cement compressed earth block walls. Within this program, particular test system was developed, conditioned by guidelines: simplicity, availability resources (especially components, equipment, workmanship), rationalization available space, scalability tests. Considering short time for designing manufacturing carrying out tests, it decided adopt project management framework Scrum mode. This article presents developed conduct full-scale (combined bending) walls, exploring its characteristics, development process, experiment execution basic analysis main outputs.
