Development of normalized soil area index for urban studies using remote sensing data

چکیده

This paper presents two novel spectral soil area indices to identify bare and distinguish it more accurately from the urban impervious surface (ISA). study designs these based on medium spatial resolution remote sensing data Landsat 8 OLI dataset. Extracting or ISA is challenging than extracting water bodies vegetation in multispectral Remote Sensing (RS). Bare often were mixed because of their similarity sensors. proposes Normalized Soil Area Index 1 (NSAI1) 2 (NSAI2) using typical bands. Experiments show that have an overall accuracy around 90%. The index (SDI) shows higher separability between previous indices. result percentile thresholds can effectively classify areas background. combined use both measured over 71 km2. Most importantly, proposed refine measurement spatiotemporal studies.

RNDSI: A ratio normalized difference soil index for remote sensing of urban/suburban environments

Understanding land use land cover change (LULCC) is a prerequisite for urban planning and environment management. For LULCC studies in urban/suburban environments, the abundance and spatial distributions of bare soil are essential due to its biophysically different properties when compared to anthropologic materials. Soil, however, is very difficult to be identified using remote sensing technol...

Monitoring the Built-up Area Transformation Using Urban Index and Normalized Difference Built-up Index Analysis

Makassar is one of the metropolitan cities located in Indonesia which recently experiences massive an increased construction because of population growth. Mapping the spatial distribution and development of the built-up region is the best method that can use as an indicator to set the urban planning policy. The purpose of this study is to identify changes in land use and density in Makassar Cit...

Drought Analysis of Alvand Boundary River Using Remote Sensing Data

Extended abstract 1- Introduction       The study of the behavior of rivers in the arid and dry areas is one of the most important tasks in the country. Because the area has increased the effects of drought due to the sensitivity of the area and rainfall shortage, it causes changes in the flow and sediment regime, water resources, agriculture, and so on. Since plants react more precisely to t...

Application of remote sensing data in measuring the area of the Zardkuh glaciers

Glaciers influenced by climatic factors and therefore as an important indicator in the study of climate change are studied. Although morphometric analyzes of glaciers based on the analysis of optical satellite data can provide an opportunity to measure ice outcrops, but the identification and determination of the buried glaciers underneath the glacial debris and, consequently, the determination...

Mapping Spatial Variability of Soil Salinity Using Remote Sensing Data and Geostatistical Analysis: A Case of Shadegan, Khuzestan

Extended abstract 1- Introduction Soil salinity is one of the most important desertification parameters in many parts of the world. Thus, preparing soil salinity maps in macro scales is necessary. Water and soil salinity as one of the contributing parameters in desertification, cause soil and vegetation degradation. Soil salinization represents many negative effects on the earth systems such ...
