Dielectric and transient electrical response of SmB6 single crystals

• SmB6 dielectric response at low temperatures reveals crucial role of surface in impedance spectra. Equivalent inductance drops drastically as bulk starts to control conductivity micro-crystals are excellent candidates for tunable oscillators. We report results from an in–plane and out–of–plane study on SmB 6 single crystals, performed over a wide frequency range. A universal equivalent circuit describes the behavior this system across transition, dominated electrical conduction between 2 10 K. identify resistive, capacitive, inductive contributions impedance. The inductance, obtained fits experimental data, with increasing temperature, conduction. Self–sustained voltage oscillations, observed below K small crystals when biased dc current, point large self–capacitance, likely brought by states.
