Hardness of cubic solid solutions
We demonstrate that a hardening rule exists in cubic solid solutions with various combinations of ionic, covalent and metallic bonding. It is revealed that the hardening stress ∆τFcg is determined by three factors: shear modulus G, the volume fraction of solute atoms fv, and the size misfit degree δb. A simple hardening correlation in KCl-KBr solid-solution is proposed as ∆τFcg = 0.27 G. It is ...
متن کاملDielectric relaxation of DNA aqueous solutions.
We report on a detailed characterization of complex dielectric response of Na-DNA aqueous solutions by means of low-frequency dielectric spectroscopy (40 Hz-110 MHz). Results reveal two broad relaxation modes of strength 20<Deltaepsilon(LF)<100 and 5<Deltaepsilon(HF)<20, centered at 0.5 kHz<nu(LF)<70 kHz and 0.1 MHz<nu(HF)<15 MHz. The characteristic length scale of the low-frequency (LF) proces...

متن کاملMolecular dynamics simulations of dielectric relaxation of concentrated polymer solutions
Molecular dynamics simulations are conducted for concentrated solutions of flexible polymers. The results are contrasted with literature dielectric spectroscopy data, in an attempt to elucidate the observed phenomena from a molecular level perspective. A bead-spring model is used and systems with chain sizes up to N5150 beads at reduced densities 0.5<r<0.8 are studied. The dimensions of the cha...
متن کاملNonlinear Dielectric Relaxation in Solutions of 6CHBT in Nonpolar Medium
The frequency dependence of the nonlinear dielectric increment was studied for benzene solutions of the nematogenic molecule 4-(trans-4′-n-hexylcyclohexyl)isothiocyanatobenzene (C6H13CyHx-PhN=C=S, 6CHBT) at 25°C. The increment was induced by a quasi-static electric field of high strength (10 V/m), and its relaxation was detected by an alternating field of low strength (10 V/m) in the frequency ...
