Differences in left ventricular and left atrial function assessed during breath-holding and breathing

چکیده
PurposeTo analyze differences in systolic and diastolic left ventricular (LV) as well atrial (LA) function parameters obtained from identical cardiac magnetic resonance (MR) imaging techniques during inspiratory breath-holding breathing (breath-hold to differences).Method56 subjects without signs of heart failure (23/33 male/female, age 58 ± 14 years) underwent 3 T MR cine real-time transmitral phase contrast with the same spatial temporal resolution free breathing. LV LA volumetric were derived segmentation series, peak velocities early-diastolic myocardial velocity series. Corresponding breath-hold compared by Bland-Altman analysis; repeatability measurements was quantified variance component analysis. p < 0.05 regarded statistically significant.ResultsMean between results vs. significant for (end-diastolic volume=−7 mL, = 0.002; end-systolic 0.001; ejection fraction %, rate 22 mL/s, filling rate=−34 0.025), (maximum volume=-6 total fraction=-4%, active fraction=-2%, 0.013; before contraction 0.001) (transmitral=-6 cm/s, tissue velocity=-1.8 0.001). Standard deviations breath-hold-to-breathing exceeded corresponding repeatabilities measurements.ConclusionsSystolic acquired differ, large inter-individual variations are possible. Thus, state should be taken into account, especially when comparing patient follow-up different respiratory states.

Left atrial relaxation and left ventricular systolic function determine left atrial reservoir function.
BACKGROUND Determinants of left atrial (LA) reservoir function and its influence on left ventricular (LV) function have not been quantified. METHODS AND RESULTS In an open-pericardium, paced (70 and 90 bpm) pig model of LV regional ischemia (left anterior descending coronary constriction), with high-fidelity LV, LA, and RV pressure recordings, we obtained the LA area with 2D automated border ...
متن کاملCONGENITAL HEART DISEASE Left atrial and left ventricular function in healthy children and young adults assessed by three dimensional echocardiography
Objective: To establish normal values of left atrial and left ventricular volumes and function in children and young adults using three dimensional echocardiography (3DE). Methods: 169 healthy subjects aged 2 to 27 years were studied by digitised 3DE. 3DE was achieved using rotational acquisition of planes at 18° intervals from the parasternal view for the left atrium and from the transthoracic...

Extended abstract Echocardiographic Evaluation of Left Ventricular Function and Geometry in Pediatric Patients with Kidney Transplantation Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is an important, leading cause of mortality and morbidity in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) as well as in renal transplant recipients. Cardiovascular complications become more important in children because of the i...
متن کاملSleep-disordered breathing in patients with atrial fibrillation and normal systolic left ventricular function.
BACKGROUND Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is more common in patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib). Recently, an additional association between central sleep apnea/Cheyne-Stokes respiration (CSA/CSR) and AFib has been described. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and type of sleep-disordered breathing in patients with AFib and normal systolic left ventricular function. M...
