Diffusion and Brownian motion in Lagrangian coordinates.
In this paper we consider the convection-diffusion problem of a passive scalar in Lagrangian coordinates, i.e., in a coordinate system fixed on fluid particles. Both the convection-diffusion partial differential equation and the Langevin equation are expressed in Lagrangian coordinates and are shown to be equivalent for uniform, isotropic diffusion. The Lagrangian diffusivity is proportional to...
متن کاملArbitrage in fractional Brownian motion models
We construct arbitrage strategies for a financial market that consists of a money market account and a stock whose discounted price follows a fractional Brownian motion with drift or an exponential fractional Brownian motion with drift. Then we show how arbitrage can be excluded from these models by restricting the class of trading strategies.
متن کاملDiffusion in Cells: Random Walks and Brownian Motion
When one first encounters the concept of diffusion, it is usually within the context of a conservation law describing the flux of many particles moving from regions of high concentration to regions of low concentration at a rate that depends on the local concentration gradient (Fick’s law). However, there are some limitations of the standard macroscopic derivation of the diffusion equation. Fir...
متن کاملObjectivisation In Simplified Quantum Brownian Motion Models
The birth of objective properties from the subjective quantum world has been one of the key questions in the quantum-to-classical transition. Based on recent results in the field, we study it in a quantum mechanical model of a boson-boson interaction—quantum Brownian motion. Using various simplifications, we prove a formation for thermal environments of, so called, spectrum broadcast structures...
