Direct calibration of indenter tip geometry by optical surface topography measuring instruments

چکیده
Abstract Instrumented indentation test (IIT) is a depth-sensing hardness allowing nano- to macro-mechanical characterisation of surface mechanical properties. Indenter tip geometry calibration allows nano-scale characterisation, overcoming the limits conventional tests. Calibration critical ensure IIT traceability and applicability for quality verification in manufacturing processes. The accuracy precision are mainly affected by indenter calibration. State-of-the-art reports either direct AFM, which highly expensive unpractical industry, or indirect methods, less accurate, precise robust. This work proposes practical, method optical topography measuring instruments. methodology complemented uncertainty evaluation. proposed approach applied Berkovich Vickers indenters its advantages proven terms on metallic ceramic material. 15 صفحه اولCalibration of optical digital fragmentation measuring systems
Optical granulometry systems like WipFrag are required to measure fragments in situ. That is to say, the fragments are in piles where sorting takes place, where fragments are partially overlapped, and where fines may not be seen because they fall in and behind the coarser fragments, or where the fines are simply too small to be seen. As a result, optical systems tend typically to overestimate t...
متن کاملOptical coherence tomography for quantitative surface topography.
We address the measurement and correction of fan distortion in optical coherence tomography (OCT). This effect arises from the scanning system configuration and prevents one, in general, from obtaining quantitative topographic data from OCT. Computer simulations allowed us to quantify the effect and evaluate its dependence on the scanning mirror separation and design of the collimating lens, as...
متن کاملCalibration-free quantitative surface topography reconstruction in scanning electron microscopy.
This work presents a new approach to obtain reliable surface topography reconstructions from 2D Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images. In this method a set of images taken at different tilt angles are compared by means of digital image correlation (DIC). It is argued that the strength of the method lies in the fact that precise knowledge about the nature of the rotation (vector and/or magni...
متن کاملCalibration of Instruments
It is presumed that most instruments exhibit linearity in the range of their operation. An instrument is said to be linear if the input physical quantity and the resulting output reading of the instrument have a linear relationship. The output of the instrument could be linear deflection, angular deflection or voltage etc. This output has to be displayed in terms of the physical quantity which ...
