Disconnected Gas Transport in Steady‐State Three‐Phase Flow

چکیده
We use high-resolution three-dimensional X-ray microtomography to investigate fluid displacement during steady-state three-phase flow in a cm-sized water-wet sandstone rock sample. The pressure differential across the sample is measured which enables determination of relative permeability; capillary also estimated from interfacial curvature. Though permeabilities are consistent, within experimental uncertainty, with values obtained without imaging on larger samples, we discover unique dynamics. most non-wetting phase (gas) disconnected system: gas flows by periodically opening critical pathways intermediate-sized pores. While this phenomenon has been observed two-phase flow, here it significant at low rates, where forces dominate pore-scale. Gas movement proceeds series double and multiple events. Implications for design processes current empirical models discussed: traditional conceptualization dynamics based analogies vastly over-estimates connectivity potential phase.

متن کاملSediment Transport in Unsteady Flow Conditions
Sediment transport under unsteady flow condition is studied experimentally. In the first step, sediment transport under different steady flow conditions was measured and an empirical equation was derived for its calculation. In the next step, two continuous and three stepwise hydrographs were generated in the flume, and their sediment transport rate was measured. The continuous hydrographs were...

متن کاملA Generic Multicast Transport Service to Support Disconnected Operation
Many mobile computing applications can proot from process groups and reliable multicast communication to maintain replicated data, but most operating systems available today fail in providing the primitive operations needed by such applications. In this paper we describe a highly conngurable, Generic Multicast Transport Service (GTS), which supports the implementation of group-based application...
متن کاملGas Absorption with Chemical Reaction in Turbulent Flow
In order to increase the rate of gas absorption, chemical reaction in the liquid phase is considered. The purpose of this paper was to simulate gas absorption process by a liquid film over a spherical packing incorporating eddy viscosity and diffusivity. Second order chemical reaction for two different cases (fast and slow) were considered. The system partial differential equations obtained...
