Discrimination of Plastic Waste using Laser-induced Breakdown Spectroscopy-principal Component Analysis: Highlighting Molecular LIBS

چکیده

Growing plastic waste emission as a planetary threat urges the development of rapid and efficient recycling process, especially during classification process. Herein, we aimed to solve problem by employing laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) in combination with principal component analysis (PCA) means for automated classification. Samples used study were wastes derived from beverage, food, stationery products different brands. The Nd:YAG laser was shot sample surface without pre-treatment under an open-air system (laser energy= 54 mJ; time delay= 1-2 μs). spectral profile each revealed presence metal components such those indicated Ca II 396.85 nm, Al I 395.92 Mg 383.83 Fe 404.85 lines. Peak intensities organic material-related lines (C 247.86 O 777.32 844.48 H 666.22 N 818.83 821.62 nm) fluctuating, suggesting that mere LIBS could not discriminate waste. PCA C2 molecular band 490—520 nm had most discriminative properties against polyethylene terephthalate (PET) polypropylene (PP). generated differently between PET PP because their contrast thermal behavior. In conclusion, LIBS-PCA be distinguish simple way.

Introduction: One of the most promising of instruments selected for the upcoming Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission for analyzing Martian rocks is the remote Laser-Induced Breakdown Spec-troscopy (LIBS) on the ChemCam instrument package. The LIBS technique involves focusing a laser pulse beam at a distant target with sufficiently high energy that a plasma is made, reducing a small spot on th...

Analysis of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) using laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) and multivariate analysis.

This study shows the application of laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) investigation. Several emission spectra were obtained for 7 different mobiles from 4 different manufacturers. Using the emission spectra of the black components it was possible to see some differences among the manufacturers and some emission lines from organic el...
