چکیده
We demonstrate dispersive charge sensing of Si/SiGe single and double quantum dots by coupling sub-micron floating gates to a radio frequency reflectometry (rf-reflectometry) circuit using the tip an atomic force microscope. Charge stability diagrams are obtained in phase response reflected rf signal. single-electron dot-to-lead dot-to-dot transitions with signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) 2 integration time τ=2.7 ms τ=6.4 ms, respectively. The SNR compares favorably results on conventional devices. Moreover, small size largely eliminates parasitic traps that can complicate interpretation data.

Atomic force microscope (AFM) based local anodic oxidation of metallic and semiconducting layers has emerged as a powerful tool for nanoscale fabrication. A unique nanoscale patterning technique has been created that couples computer aided design (CAD) with the lithographic capabilities of the AFM. Target nanostructures to be deposited on a silicon substrate are rendered as a three-dimensional ...
متن کاملA new atomic force microscope probe with force sensing integrated readout and active tip
We introduce a novel probe structure for the atomic force microscope. The probe has a sharp tip placed on a micromachined membrane with an integrated displacement sensor, a diffraction-based optical interferometer. We use this probe in a microscope to directly measure the transient interaction forces between the probe tip and the sample when operating in a dynamic mode. We form images related t...
متن کاملDirect manipulation of a single potassium channel gate with an atomic force microscope probe.
Ion channels are membrane proteins that regulate cell functions by controlling the ion permeability of cell membranes. An ion channel contains an ion-selective pore that permeates ions and a sensor that senses a specific stimulus such as ligand binding to regulate the permeability. The detailed molecular mechanisms of this regulation, or gating, are unknown. Gating is thought to occur from conf...

A relationship based on the modified couple stress theory is developed to investigate the flexural sensitivity of an atomic force microscope (AFM) with assembled cantilever probe (ACP). This ACP comprises a horizontal cantilever, two vertical extensions and two tips located at the free ends of the extensions which form a caliper. An approximate solution to the flexural vibration problem is obta...
