Dissecting subcycle interference in photoelectron holography

Multipath holographic interference in strong-field quantum tunnel ionization is key to revealing sub-Angstrom attosecond dynamics for molecular movies. This critical sub-cycle motion often obscured by longer time-scale effects such as ring-shaped patterns that appear above-threshold (ATI). In the present work, we overcome this problem combining two novel techniques theory and experimental analysis: unit-cell averaging time-filtering data simulations. Together these suppress ATI rings enable an unprecedented highly-detailed quantitative match between experiments argon Coulomb-quantum orbit approximation (CQSFA) theory. Velocity map images reveal fine modulations on spider-like fringes form near polarization axis. CQSFA traces of three types electron pathways. The level agreement experiment allows sensitive determination phase differences symmetries, providing important tool dynamical imaging systems.
