چکیده
Dinoflagellates is one dominant group in coastal marine phytoplankton communities and, on occasion, form blooms estuaries and ecosystems. While relationships between dinoflagellate bloom dynamics nutrients are well-studied, information regarding dissipation limited. We studied the of Polykrikos geminatum Pearl River Estuary, South China Sea, during August 2011 using ecological, molecular, satellite remote sensing data. found that was associated with water temperatures 29.2–31 °C, salinities ranging 16.4–20, ambient nutrient concentrations were not The abundance ciliate Euplotes rariseta, which feeds P. cell debris bacteria, functions as an indicator species dissipation. In situ data indicate masses transferred from central to inner estuary near Shenzhen Bay, driven by continuous, strong southerly winds; at point time, dissipated a high-salinity area mouth northerly winds freshwater discharge, whereupon rapidly vanished. 3d Numerical Model for Pearl River Estuary
A 3D numerical model with orthogonal curvilinear coordinate in the horizontal direction and sigma coordinate in the vertical direction has been developed. This model is based on POM (the Princeton Ocean Model). In this model a second moment turbulence closure sub-model is embedded, and the stratification caused by salinity and temperature is considered. Furthermore, in order to adapt to estuary...
متن کاملApical Groove Type and Molecular Phylogeny Suggests Reclassification of Cochlodinium geminatum as Polykrikos geminatum
Traditionally Cocholodinium and Gymnodinium sensu lato clade are distinguished based on the cingulum turn number, which has been increasingly recognized to be inadequate for Gymnodiniales genus classification. This has been improved by the combination of the apical groove characteristics and molecular phylogeny, which has led to the erection of several new genera (Takayama, Akashiwo, Karenia, a...
متن کاملNitrification and inorganic N in the Pearl River Estuary
We investigated the spatial distribution and seasonal variation of dissolved inorganic nitrogen in a large perturbed estuary, the Pearl River Estuary, based on three cruises conducted in winter (January 2005), summer (August 2005) and spring (March 2006). On-site incubation was also carried out for determining ammonium and nitrite oxidation 5 rates (nitrification rates). We observed a year-roun...
متن کاملThree-dimensional pollutant transport model for the Pearl River Estuary.
In this paper, the development and implementation of a three-dimensional, numerical pollutant transport model, which is based on an orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system in the horizontal direction and a sigma coordinate system in the vertical direction, is delineated. An efficient as well as simple open boundary condition is employed for pollutant transport in this mathematical model. It is...
