Dissipation of Water Energy by Using a Special Stilling Basin Via Three-dimensional Numerical Model

Introduction: The forced hydraulic jump characteristics were studied numerically using Flow-3D software. Rectangular and semi-cylindrical shape slices used as obstacles with different arrangements in the stilling basin to dissipate excess kinetic energy. Methods: Each type was tested under five values of discharges (60, 80, 100, 120, 160 l s -1 ). numerical results showed that act good energy dissipators, which decrease length a result. best case is installing three basin, dissipation ratios range from 48% 63%, an average difference 14% classical jumps, according discharge values. Results: It should be noted have better performance on than rectangular slices, indicates concave surface models cause flow change its direction, this leads stable condition. Conclusion: Results work can applied prototype by fixing at relative distances 0.2, 0.5, 0.8 end spillway, lead maximize rates.
