چکیده
Abstract We study here systems of distributed entities that can actively modify their communication network. This gives rise to algorithms apart from also exploit network reconfiguration carry out a given task. Also, the task itself may now require global initial $$G_s$$ G s target $$G_f$$ f desirable family networks. To formally capture costs associated with creating and maintaining connections, we define three edge-complexity measures: total edge activations , maximum activated edges per round degree node . give (poly)log( n ) time for transforming any into diameter ), while minimizing edge-complexity. Our main lower bound shows $$\varOmega (n)$$ ? ( n ) (n/\log n)$$ / log must be paid by algorithm (even centralized) achieves an optimum $$\varTheta (\log ? rounds. our general The first runs in $$O(\log O time, at most 2 active round, $$O(n\log activations, $$n-1$$ - 1 2. second bounded paying additional logarithmic factor activations. It uses O ( round. third if slightly increase polylog( then achieve $$o(\log ^2 o 2 running time.

Distributed computation in wireless and dynamic networks
Today’s wireless networks tend to be centralized: they are organized around a fixed central backbone such as a network of cellular towers or wireless access points. However, as mobile computing devices continue to shrink in size and in cost, we are reaching the point where large-scale ad-hoc wireless networks, composed of swarms of cheap devices or sensors, are becoming feasible. In this thesis...
متن کاملDistributed Computation in Dynamic Networks : Technical Report
In this paper we investigate distributed computation in dynamic networks in which the network topology changes from round to round. We consider a worst-case model in which the communication links for each round are chosen by an adversary, and nodes do not know who their neighbors for the current round are before they broadcast their messages. The model allows the study of the fundamental comput...

متن کاملFast Distributed Computation in Dynamic Networks via Random Walks
The paper investigates efficient distributed computation in dynamic networks in which the network topology changes (arbitrarily) from round to round. Random walks are a fundamental primitive in a wide variety of network applications; the local and lightweight nature of random walks is especially useful for providing uniform and efficient solutions to distributed control of dynamic networks. Giv...
متن کاملFast reconfiguration of dynamic networks
— To prevent from topology changes, failures, or overloads, network management requires frequently computation and reconfiguration of established connections. When the number of established connections in the network is very large, the optimization of the reconfiguration task is essential to have short latency. When the communications using these connections are real-time, traffic interruption ...
