چکیده
Abstract Grazing and mowing are two major land use types in natural grasslands, which have intensive effects on nutrient cycling of grassland ecosystems by deposition fecaluria versus removal hay nutrient. Plant nutrients sensitively respond to the changes cycling, while information diverse grazing regimes plant at different organs or levels incomplete. A field experiment was conducted compare continuous rotational grazing, low high frequencies a semiarid steppe Inner Mongolia. community characteristics C, N P concentrations dominant species were determined across managements. We found (i) height standing biomass significantly decreased with intensity under both annual mowing. (ii) shoot C concentration decreased, whereas increased regimes, these showed no significant response regimes. (iii) aboveground pools but did not decrease frequency (iv) root little indicating relatively bigger stability slower nutrients. Our study provides insights into from multiple perspectives.

Impact of Grazing on Soil Carbon and Microbial Biomass in Typical Steppe and Desert Steppe of Inner Mongolia
The potential of grazing lands to sequester carbon must be understood to develop effective soil conservation measures and sustain livestock production. Our objective was to evaluate the effects of grazing on soil organic carbon (SOC), total nitrogen (TN), microbial biomass carbon (MBC) in Typical steppe and Desert steppe ecosystems, which are both important grassland resources for animal grazin...
متن کاملEffects of Grazing Intensity and Environmental Factors on Species Composition and Diversity in Typical Steppe of Inner Mongolia, China
In the present study, we aim to analyze the effect of grazing, precipitation and temperature on plant species dynamics in the typical steppe of Inner Mongolia, P.R. China. By uncoupling biotic and abiotic factors, we provide essential information on the main drivers determining species composition and species diversity. Effects of grazing by sheep were studied in a controlled experiment along a...
متن کاملEcosystem responses to mowing manipulations in an arid Inner Mongolia steppe: An energy perspective
Mowing for hay is a widely adopted practice for grasslands utilization and management. However, its effects on energy partitioning have not well been studied. Our primary objective was to examine the role of mowing as a disturbance factor acting on energy partitioning and relationships between community composition/structure and energy fluxes in a typical steppe ecosystem through a long-term fi...
متن کاملEffects of grazing intensity on soil labile organic carbon fractions in a desert steppe area in Inner Mongolia
Grazing can cause changes in soil carbon (C) level. This study aimed to elucidate the response of soil labile organic carbon (SLOC) under four different grazing intensities: non grazing (NG), 0 sheep·ha(-1); light grazing (LG), 0.91 sheep·ha(-1); moderate grazing (MG), 1.82 sheep·ha(-1), and heavy grazing (HG), 2.73 sheep·ha(-1). Results showed that there was no significant difference in total ...
متن کاملGrazing limits natural biological controls of woody encroachment in Inner Mongolia Steppe
Woody encroachment in grasslands has become increasingly problematic globally. Grazing by domestic animals can facilitate woody encroachment by reducing competition from herbaceous plants and fire frequency. Herbivorous insects and parasitic plants can each exert forces that result in the natural biological control of encroaching woody plants through reducing seeding of their host woody plants....
