A New Parameter to Predict Cavitation Erosion
In order to avoid or predict cavitation erosion, it is necessary to know resistance of materials against to cavitation impacts. The cavitation impacts, which are larger than certain threshold level, only affect cavitation erosion of materials. In the present paper, existence of the threshold level was revealed experimentally. The threshold level of material is a new parameter to predict the cav...
متن کاملFitting circles to scattered data: parameter estimates have no moments
We study a nonlinear regression problem of fitting a circle (or a circular arc) to scattered data. We prove that under any standard assumptions on the statistical distribution of errors that are commonly adopted in the literature, the estimates of the circle center and radius have infinite moments. We also discuss methodological implications of this fact.
متن کاملNon-linear Parameter Estimates from Non-stationary MEG Data
We demonstrate a method to estimate key electrophysiological parameters from resting state data. In this paper, we focus on the estimation of head-position parameters. The recovery of these parameters is especially challenging as they are non-linearly related to the measured field. In order to do this we use an empirical Bayesian scheme to estimate the cortical current distribution due to a ran...
متن کاملOld versus New: Why Do We Need New Antiepileptic Drugs?
Achieving complete seizure remission without adverse events is the goal of epilepsy treatment. Recently, many new antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) have been developed. Even though the efficacy of new AEDs is not stronger than that of old AEDs, there are advantages in using new AEDs. They have unique or different mechanisms of action that enable the creation of possible synergistic combinations. They ...
متن کاملAnchoring : do we need new solutions to an old problem or do we have old solutions for a new problem ?
We propose a model to represent knowledge in an agent possibly participating to a multi-agent system, such that the anchoring problem can be faced by well known techniques. We discuss how this model could reliably support the instantiation of concepts by aggregating percepts affected by uncertainty, sensed by several sensors, and obtained from different agents.
