Does Adoption of Biofortification Increase Return on Investment? Evidence from Wheat Farmers in China

Biofortification is a new agricultural intervention to alleviate hidden hunger in China and even the world. Exploring impact of farmers′ adoption biofortification on return investment (ROI), which calculated from production net income profitability, can provide empirical support for development sustainable agriculture. This paper examines ROI using cross-sectional data survey farmers China. An endogenous switching regression model that accounts selection bias was used research. The results revealed has positive statistically significant ROI. A heterogeneity analysis also comparatively high annual adopters female tend benefit more than middle- low-income male adopters.
