Does Metakaoline Replacement Adversely Affect the Cyclic Behavior of Non-Strengthened and Strengthened RC Beams: An Experimental Investigation

چکیده
The need to reduce carbon emissions has recently become prevalent in light of concerns related climate change. Since the cement industry causes approximately 8% global CO2 emissions, it might be an urgent necessity include replacement materials within concrete industry. An important question arises about if such negatively affects cyclic or seismic behavior reinforced (RC) elements. This research presents experimental investigation effect using different percentages metakaolin on monotonic and RC beams. investigated parameters flexural strength, ductility energy dissipation capacity tested current paper also aims study CFRP-strengthening technique with 15% beams under same loading protocols. results reveal that can used as a partial substitute for up 20% without negative both For loading, percentage did not affect ductility; rather, provided some improvement.

Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) material is currently being produced in different configurations and widely used to strengthen and retrofit concrete structures and bridges. It is also possible to apply other strengthening methods without changing the appearance or the dimensions of the structure. متن کاملThe Tension-Stiffening Contribution of NSM CFRP to the Behavior of Strengthened RC Beams
Tension stiffening is a characteristic behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) beams which is directly affected by the bond-slip property of steel bar and concrete interfaces. A beam strengthened with a near-surface mounted (NSM) technique would be even more affected by tension stiffening, as the NSM reinforcement also possess a bond-slip property. Yet assessing how much the tension stiffening of ...
