Droplet impact onto a spring-supported plate: analysis and simulations

چکیده

The high-speed impact of a droplet onto flexible substrate is highly nonlinear process practical importance which poses formidable modelling challenges in the context fluid-structure interaction. We present two approaches aimed at investigating canonical system impacting rigid plate supported by spring and dashpot: matched asymptotic expansions direct numerical simulation (DNS). In former, we derive generalisation inviscid Wagner theory to approximate flow behaviour during early stages impact. latter, perform detailed DNS designed validate analytical framework, as well provide insight into later times beyond reach proposed mathematical model. Drawing from both methods, observe strong influence that mass plate, resistance dashpot stiffness have on motion solid, undergoes forced damped oscillations. Furthermore, examine how affects dynamics droplet, predominantly through altering its internal hydrodynamic pressure distribution. build interplay between these techniques, demonstrating hybrid approach leads improved model computational development, result interpretation, across multiple length- time-scales.

Analysis of Thermal-Bending Stresses in a Simply Supported Annular Sector Plate

The present article deals with the analysis of thermal-bending stresses in a heated thin annular sector plate with simply supported boundary condition under transient temperature distribution using Berger’s approximate methods. The sectional heat supply is on the top face of the plate whereas the bottom face is kept at zero temperature. In this study, the solution of heat conduction is obtained...

Droplet impact on water layers: post-impact analysis and computations.

An inviscid model of droplet impact into a water layer is examined analytically for small times just after impact and computationally for order-one distortion times. Various layer depths are considered, as are surface-tension effects. Good correspondence is found between analysis, computation and experiments.

Stress Analysis in Thermosensitive Elliptical Plate with Simply Supported Edge and Impulsive Thermal Load

The paper concerns the thermoelastic problems in a thermosensitive elliptical plate subjected to the activity of a heat source which changes its place on the plate surface with time. The solution of conductivity equation and the corresponding initial and boundary conditions is obtained by employing a new integral transform technique. In addition, the intensities of bending moments, resultant fo...

Numerical Simulation of Oblique Droplet Impact onto a Deep Liquid Pool

Oblique impact of droplet onto a deep liquid pool is frequently observed in nature. As for engineering applications, the subsequent phenomenon of oblique droplet impact is of great significance for a proper design of the vanes in the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) chamber of ASML to prevent contamination. During the impact, the pool surface deforms and a cavity is generated, which later on collapses...
