Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) Fabrication Using Methanol Extract of Onion Peel as a Natural Sensitizer

Methanol extracts of onion peel waste (Allium cepa) were applied as natural sensitizer in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) fabrication. This research investigated the dye characteristics extract and its power conversion efficiency. Onion extraction was carried out using unacidified methanol (UME) acidified (AME). Dye absorption characterized by UV-Vis Spectrophotometer at a wavelength 200-800 nm FT-IR wave number 4000-500 cm-1. The efficiency fabricated DSSC determined calculating voltage current generated multimeter. red extracts, both methanol, had maximum UV-Visible range (457, 659 662 nm). has several functional groups such –OH, C=O, C-O-C, C=C, C-H aromatics- showing specific corresponding to anthocyanin structure. A solar energy η= 0.0413% obtained from UME with short circuit up Jsc=0.6031 mAcm-2 fill factor 0.2764.
