Dynamic Loading Effect on Fault Current and Arc Flash for a Coordinated Substation

Due to load growth and various types within the service territory, utilities need enhance utilization of substations. In any case, towards coordinated substation design, transformers' most total capacity cannot be reduced just because there is a lack proper coordination between transmission distribution systems. The systems' stability safe operability must investigated in substation. critical issues are asymmetric fault currents on high voltage arc-related safety switchgear at different dynamic loading scenarios. We found that when one 138 kV line two transformers energized, with increased loading, from 40% above, substation, as whole, gets gradually more stressed. Because highest amount bus, avoid CT saturation, we consider three lines connected, all running 100% loading. At this value 13.2 switchgear, incident energy 2 cal/cm2, arc flash boundary four feet, which ensures workers wear arc-rated clothes work de-energized cubicle switchgear.
