Spin-dependent Transport in Phase-separated Manganites
Starting from the assumption that ferromagnetically correlated regions exist in manganites even in the absence of long-range magnetic order, we construct a model of charge transfer due to the spin-dependent tunnelling of charge carriers between such regions. This model allows us to analyze the temperature and magnetic field dependence of resistivity, magnetoresistance, and magnetic susceptibili...
متن کاملIntrinsic tunneling in phase separated manganites.
We present evidence of direct electron tunneling across intrinsic insulating regions in submicrometer wide bridges of the phase-separated ferromagnet (La,Pr,Ca)MnO3. Upon cooling below the Curie temperature, a predominantly ferromagnetic supercooled state persists where tunneling across the intrinsic tunnel barriers (ITBs) results in metastable, temperature-independent, high-resistance plateaus...
متن کاملSpin excitations in ferromagnetic manganites
An effective one–band Hamiltonian for colossal–magnetoresistance (CMR) manganites is constructed and the spin excitations are determined. Fitting the experimental data by the derived spin–wave dispersion gives an eg–electron hopping amplitude of about 0.2 eV in agreement with LDA band calculations.
متن کاملParticle Separation by Employing Non-Uniform Electric Fields, Traveling-Wave Electric Fields and Inclined Gravity
In this study, we present the methods of the particle separation by employing electrokinetic phenomena (dielectrophoresis (DEP) and traveling-wave electroosmosis (TWEO)) and the inclined gravity. The methods can separate particles of same sign DEP. However, it is very difficult to separate particles on a plane electrode. To cope with this problem, we create the “Bottle neck Fork-trace electrode...
متن کاملPhase coexistence and resistivity near the ferromagnetic transition of manganites.
Pairing of oxygen holes into heavy bipolarons in the paramagnetic phase and their magnetic pair breaking in the ferromagnetic phase (the so-called current-carrier density collapse) has accounted for the first-order ferromagnetic-phase transition, colossal magnetoresistance, isotope effect, and pseudogap in doped manganites. Here we propose an explanation of the phase coexistence and describe th...
