Dynamic state and parameter estimation in multi-machine power systems—Experimental demonstration using real-world PMU-measurements

Dynamic state and parameter estimation (DSE) plays a key role for reliably monitoring operating future, power-electronics-dominated power systems. While DSE is very active research field, experimental applications of proposed algorithms to real-world systems remain scarce. This motivates the present paper, in which we demonstrate effectiveness algorithm previously presented by parts authors with data collected Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) at substation close plant within extra-high voltage grid Germany. To this end, first derive suitable mapping PMU-measurements recorded terminal bus plants’ synchronous generator. considers high-voltage transmission line, tap-changing transformer auxiliary system plant. Next, introduce several practically motivated extensions algorithm, significantly improve its practical performance measurements. Finally, successfully validate experimentally an auto- as well cross-validation.
