Effect of N-Acetyl-L-cysteine on Activity of Doxycycline against Biofilm-Forming Bacterial Strains

چکیده

Biofilm-forming bacteria are associated with difficult-to-cure bacterial infections in veterinary patients. According to previous studies, N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) showed an inhibitory effect on biofilm formation when it was applied combination beta-lactam antibiotics and fluoroquinolones. The lack of information about the NAC doxycycline activity against biofilm-forming strains reason for conducting this study. Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) ATCC 25923, O74, Escherichia coli (E. coli) 25922 Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) 27853 were used evaluate without addition planktonic formation. minimum concentrations (MICs) not affected by Gram-negative found be two times higher S. aureus. (MBICs) (2 μg/mL E. 32 P. 27853), determined using a standard safranin colorimetric assay, than MICs (0.5 4 μg/mL, respectively). data suggest that combinations could stimulate growth cells 25922. did affect strong

Effect of the nanoliposomal formulations of rifampin and N-acetyl cysteine on staphylococcus epidermidis biofilm

Objective(s): Staphylococcus epidermidis is a common cause of medical device-associated infections due to biofilm formation, and its elimination is extremely challenging. Although rifampin efficacy against S. epidermidis biofilms has been confirmed, its use as a single agent may lead to resistance. As such, it is assumed that the combination of rifampin and N-acetylcysteine (NAC) could exert ad...

Attenuating effect of N-acetyl-L-cysteine against acute cocaine toxicity in rat C6 astroglial cells

Astroglial cells are one of the most abundant cell types in the mammalian brain functioning in neuronal survival and in maintenance of fundamental patterns of circuitry. To date, no study has been conducted regarding the short-term impact of cocaine on these cells in cultures. The present study aimed to investigate acute cocaine (1 h) treatment on cell viability in rat C6 astroglial cells. In a...

Combined Effect of N-Acetyl Cysteine and Clarithromycin on Bleomycin Induced Pulmonary Fibrosis

Combined therapy with clarithromycin (CLTR) and N–acetyl cysteine (NAC) may be useful in diseases with impaired oxidant-antioxidant balance, fibroblast proliferation, and collagen deposition such as pulmonary fibrosis. Activated inflammatory cells which accumulate in the lower airways may release increased amounts of reactive oxygen species (ROS) when accompanied with a deficiency in glut...

Effects of N-acetyl-L-cysteine on Postoperative Intrabdominal Adhesion in a Large Animal Model

Objective- Mechanisms that decrease oxidative stress and enhance peritoneal fibrinolysis reduce adhesions. N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) is an antioxidant whose effect on peritoneal fibrinolysis in large animal model has not been established. The aims of this study were to investigate the ability of NAC to decreased adhesion in stablished model of serosal trauma in sheep. Design- Expe...
