Effects of an Early Detection System for Barotrauma During Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

چکیده
Introduction: Although hyperbaric oxygen therapy is required in disasters or emergency situations, barotrauma, which the most common complication, continues to occur. If barotrauma occurs during treatment, treatment stopped, and there no proper preventive method for this. Therefore, authors evaluated degree of prevention by applying a tympanometry-based anti-barotrauma device (ABT). Method: The candidates clinical trial are adults between ages 18 65 who correspond academic indications therapy. In prospective parallel design, were placed test group control group. Simple randomization one-sided blinding applied. medical staff directly observed severity middle ear through video otoscope. number interruptions completions along with findings from otoscope observation (Grade 0~5) such as level pain (pain scale value) collected at three university hospitals. Results: When ABT was applied, it possible prevent earlier than traditional observation. However, since application requires patient's voluntary cooperation, difficult if patient has reduced consciousness unable follow instructions staff. Conclusion: Applying an appropriate early detection barotrauma. order be applicable patients difficulty automatic intrinsic pressure reduction system should developed.

Middle-ear barotrauma after hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
BACKGROUND Middle-ear barotrauma (MEB) is one of the most common side effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO2). The incidence of MEB has been shown to vary between treatment centers and patients. This study was aimed to determine which patients are at high risk of MEB. MATERIALS AND METHODS Prospective study including all the patients treated in a multiplace HBO2 chamber between January an...
متن کاملCentral nervous system oxygen toxicity during routine hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is associated with a recognized risk for clinically apparent central nervous system (CNS) toxicity. The risk for oxygen-induced convulsions during routine hyperbaric treatment of most routine conditions is extremely low. However, reports from the 1980's describing the incidence of CNS oxygen toxicity differ significantly from more recent reports since 1996. This retros...

144,000 hits on Google for the two words “bleomycin” and “scuba” demonstrate the continued interest in the subject of diving after bleomycin therapy; some very conservative, and some more liberal regarding recommendations. My thanks to UHM, which published “Scuba diving post-bleomycin therapy” (UHM 2010, Vol. 37, No. 6, p. 455), documenting a recreational diver’s return to scuba after his chemo...
متن کاملHIV antiviral effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Researchers have speculated that hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy has an antiviral effect in HIV infection. To determine HBO's antiviral effect, the authors performed ex vivo and in vivo quantitative assays on HIV-infected plasma and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) at baseline and after treatment. The authors also HBO-treated uninfected PBMCs and then exposed them to HIV at ambient pr...

The responses of intracranial pressure (ICP) to hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy and arterial gas pressures were investigated. ICP was measured through a ventricular or spinal drainage catheter in patients with brain tumor or cerebrovascular disease. Changes in ICP, heart rate (HR), arterial blood pressure (ABP), and transcutaneous partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PtcCO2) or oxygen (PtcO2) we...
