Effects of Tool Edge Geometry and Cutting Conditions on the Performance Indicators in Dry Turning AISI 1045 Steel

This article presents an experimental investigation and statistical analysis of the effects cutting conditions on machining performance AISI 1045 steel using a wiper-shaped insert. Experimental findings are used to compare obtained wiper inserts with those conventional round-nose as recently reported in literature. In addition, process conditions, namely speed, feed rate, depth cut, analyzed order obtain optimum for both types inserts. The goal is achieve optimal outcomes: minimum surface roughness, resultant force, temperature, but maximum material removal rate. A full factorial design was followed conduct trials, while ANOVA utilized estimate effect each factor responses. desirability function optimization tool optimize studied results reveal that rate 67% more than inserts, maintaining 0.7 µm roughness value. superior allow tools use higher rates, resulting larger rates obtaining same quality.
