Effects of two tannin extracts at different doses in interaction with a green or dry forage substrate on in vitro rumen fermentation and biohydrogenation

چکیده

Extensive ruminant farming systems often face fluctuating pasture availability, resulting in two periods with very different forage quality. Tannins are natural bioactive compounds able to modify ruminants’ digestive metabolism thanks their properties. To evaluate a differential effect of tannins feeding situations, according the availability along year, an vitro rumen incubation trial was performed. Buffered sheep content incubated substrates, vetch (VP) and hay (VH), presence tannin extracts, from quebracho (QUE) mixture chestnut (MIX). Each extract tested at 0, 15 30 g tannin/kg DM. The gas production determined 3.5 24 h fermentation. After anaerobic conditions, volatile fatty acids (VFA), ammonia (FA) were analysed. Interesting significative two-way interactions extracts observed some fermentation parameters. Adding MIX VH treatment resulted higher depression (P < 0.050) iso-VFA proportions, compared QUE supplementation, while no differences VP treatment. more effective than reducing acetate/propionate ratio when supplemented However, showed increase CO2/CH4 after g/kg, exerted similar effects on biohydrogenation. Tannin decreased rumenic/linoleic acid iso-FA proportions only added These results demonstrate that modulating associated hay-based diet. Also, protecting proteins ruminal degradation, key point grazing periods. Therefore, extensive husbandry could benefit strategies for using dietary season availability.

A Review on Biohydrogenation and Effects of Tannin on It

The process called biohydrogenation occurs mainly in ruminant animals and during it, unsaturated fatty acids, and particularly poly-unsaturated ones (linoleic and linolenic) coverts to a saturated form of stearic acid. For many years, the beneficial effects of biohydrogenation intermediate fatty acids like cis-9 trans-11 linoleic acid, the main natural isomer of conjugated linoleic acids (CLA),...

The Effects of Phenolic Compounds in Iranian Propolis Extracts on in vitro Rumen Fermentation, Methane Production and Microbial Population

The objective of this study was to determine the chemical compounds of Iranian propolis (IP) extracts and to show flavonoids and phenol effects on methane production, fermentation characteristics and rumen microbial population (in vitro). In this study two diets with different concentrate: forage ratios as (HC: high concentrate) and (MC: middle concentrate), respectively as non-supplemented or ...

Influence of Carotino oil on in vitro rumen fermentation, metabolism and apparent biohydrogenation of fatty acids.

The study appraised the effects of Carotino oil on in vitro rumen fermentation, gas production, metabolism and apparent biohydrogenation of oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids. Carotino oil was added to a basal diet (50% concentrate and 50% oil palm frond) at the rate of 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8% dry matter of the diet. Rumen inoculum was obtained from three fistulated Boer bucks and incubated with 200...

critical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language

since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...
