Effects of Vanadium Addition on Strain Distribution, Crack Initiation and Propagation during Low-cycle Fatigue Test in Ferrite and Martensite Dual-phase Steel

Effects of vanadium (V) addition on strain distribution, crack initiation and propagation behavior during low-cycle fatigue test in ferrite martensite dual phase (DP) steel were revealed. V effectively extended the life, even though tensile properties approximately identical between V-added DP steels. The stress amplitude suddenly decreased just before fracture steel. initiated from surface propagated inside, brittle occurred region distribution introduced was more inhomogeneous for than that steel, generated high-strain region. Considering number cycles larger promoted nucleation but suppressed growth stage. Cracks independent rate remarkably higher Thus, caused faster propagation.
