assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea
data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...
Earthquake Waves Reflected at the Inside of the Core Boundary*
-Travel times of waves generated by an earthquake at a depth of 600 km and reflected from the inside of the core boundary as well as the epicentral distances of the caustics of PKKP, SKKP, and PKKS agree within the limits of error with those calculated on the basis of velocity-depth curves. This applies also to the travel times of SKKS and SKKKS for which poor agreement was reported before the ...
متن کاملNorthridge earthquake damage caused by geologic focusing of seismic waves
Despite being located 21 kilometers from the epicenter of the 1994 Northridge earthquake (magnitude 6.7), the city of Santa Monica experienced anomalously concentrated damage with Mercalli intensity IX, an intensity as large as that experienced in the vicinity of the epicenter. Seismic records from aftershocks suggest that the damage resulted from the focusing of seismic waves by several underg...
متن کاملEfficiency of Current Drive by Fast Waves
The Rosenbluth form for the collision operator for a weakly relativistic plasma is derived. The formalism adopted by Antonsen and Chu can then be used to calculate the efficiency of current drive by fast waves in a relativistic plasma. Accurate numerical results and analytic asymptotic limits for the efficiencies are given.
متن کاملEarthquake ruptures modulated by waves in damaged fault zones
Faults are usually surrounded by damaged zones of lower elastic moduli and seismic wave velocities than their host rocks. If the interface between the damaged rocks and host rocks is sharp enough, earthquakes happening inside the fault zone generate reflected waves and head waves, which can interact with earthquake ruptures and modulate rupture properties such as rupture speed, slip rate, and r...
