Electromechanical resonators for sensing fluid density and viscosity—a review

چکیده
The resonance characteristics of vibrating structures change when they are immersed in fluids and these changes can be related to the parameters density viscosity Newtonian liquids. various suitable structures, vibration modes, transduction principles, signal analysis methods lead an immense variety sensor systems reported literature. In this review, we focus on basic similarities between electromechanical transducers their evaluation show that despite apparent differences, a common design route followed. It is outlined single modes approximated by damped harmonic oscillators where hydrodynamic loading accounted for general model. two classes sensors, piezoelectric electrodynamic, described dual circuits such same estimation method applied. Also, limitations associated with unified approach discussed. Furthermore, aspects concerning interface accuracy-limiting factors, as noise interference, reviewed.

Electromechanical resonators from graphene sheets.
Nanoelectromechanical systems were fabricated from single- and multilayer graphene sheets by mechanically exfoliating thin sheets from graphite over trenches in silicon oxide. Vibrations with fundamental resonant frequencies in the megahertz range are actuated either optically or electrically and detected optically by interferometry. We demonstrate room-temperature charge sensitivities down to ...
متن کاملOptical Microbottle Resonators for Sensing
Whispering gallery mode (WGM) optical microresonators have been shown to be the basis for sensors able to detect minute changes in their environment. This has made them a well-established platform for highly sensitive physical, chemical, and biological sensors. Microbottle resonators (MBR) are a type of WGM optical microresonator. They share characteristics with other, more established, resonat...
متن کاملOptical Microspherical Resonators for Biomedical Sensing
Optical resonators play an ubiquitous role in modern optics. A particular class of optical resonators is constituted by spherical dielectric structures, where optical rays are total internal reflected. Due to minimal reflection losses and to potentially very low material absorption, these guided modes, known as whispering gallery modes, can confer the resonator an exceptionally high quality fac...
